Sunday Roundup
My latest foray into the Sunday tournaments brought the usual big hole in the P&L, with two min cashes not enough to save the day. I felt I played okay, but a definite problem when it comes to Sundays, is that I am playing too many hands and getting into nasty spots too early in tournaments. When this happens, you can end up risking your stack in marginal spots, and when you don’t run well it is curtains.
I had people make some really odd plays against me, so perhaps my stats are starting to look a bit odd for those that use the trackers (I don’t). People were calling down light, and I rarely had the goods.
My evening was summed up by my virtual exit hand from the Sunday Million. I had halved my stack to 5k in customary style, but approaching the third hour I had built up to 20k and was starting to make encouraging progress. Then this hand crops up:
Blinds are 400-800
My stack is 20k, button has 19k
I raise to 2400 with , my standard raise.
Button calls.
Flop is 3c5c9h
I continuation bet 4k, opponent calls.
Turn is 3d
I shove for 13k, a pretty much pot sized bet.
Opponent insta-calls for his tournament life with . Ace high, no draw, even though he could have passed and still had a workable stack. I miss my 10 outs and I am left with nothing.
Mr Ace King - a genius or an idiot?
Tonight is a cash game at LC. Should be good as it is a fun lineup.
