Last night saw a 7 hour cash Omaha session on Full Tilt, after sufficient numbers failed to materialise for a live game at Loose Cannon. Amusingly, for most of the night we had 5 Loose Cannon regulars on one table as follows:

Seat1 Devski
Seat2 Jody
Seat3 Wilkinson
Seat4 The Baron
Seat5 Me
Seat6 Random American/Estonian/German depending on which hour it was

This led to a fun table with a lot of banter. I three tabled for most of the session, and unfortunately had a horrendous downswing in a 20 minute period after starting promisingly. Most of my cash didn’t go to the fellow LC players and happened on the other tables. The net result was I finished the session $800 down, and gave back all my Sunday profits.

Anyhow - to the 20 minute disaster period. I am up about $500 at this point after a couple of hours or so, and feeling very good.

Hand1:
I get all my chips in on the turn against a single opponent in a $400 pot. He has one out. He rivers it :( $200 hit

Hand2
I completely butcher this one. Heavy action builds a big pot preflop - I had 4456 double suited. Flop comes J94 or something similar. I check it round to await developments. Turn is something nondescript so I pot it to try and take down the sizeable pot with my mini set. Wilkinson shoves for about $120 more, so I am getting over 3.5-1 on an eventual $550 pot. Wilkinson is a nit, thus has an overset a fair bit here, but I feel priced in just in case he has a big draw. He has a set of Jacks and I lose. $300 hit

Hand3
Raised pot and I hold Td8d7c6c. Flop arrives QdJd9h giving me second nuts. I pot it, and the other guy goes all in, and I figure that he probably has KT for the bigger straight, but I have the flush redraw even if this is the case. Whoops! He has KT and also a bigger flush draw so I am drawing precisely to the 9d (he has Kd). I don’t hit as to be expected. $200 hit

Hand4
I get all my money in with top 2 pair + up and down straight draw. Other guy has a small set and holds. $200 hit.

So there we go - a $900 hit in about 20 mins, which leaves me $400 down for the session. After this, I start drinking and tilt off another $400 over the next couple of hours.

Shame - I was playing well till the 20 minute debacle. I just can’t get anything going this year. Every time I take a step forward, the next session puts me back down. Momentum is missing, that is for sure, but I will keep plugging away.

Tonight sees a visit to the Loose Cannon, before the London Pub Open on Saturday at the same venue. This tournament will give me a bit of practice in larger fields ahead of the London Masters, which starts next week at the International.

Perhaps a run of tournaments is what I need to get things going.
